By Diounie Strydom, Senior Residential Portfolio Manager: Property Administration and Facilities Management – MidCity Property Services
In line with one of MidCity’s cornerstones, Innovation, we are excited to take our Inspectorate functionality to the next level by moving all property inspections to a digital, real-time environment. This advancement enhances building inspections, boosts productivity, and elevates our service for current and prospective landlords.
Paper-based inspections and reporting are time-consuming and tedious not only for the tenants but also for landlords and building inspectors alike. The accuracy of the condition of the property and units is of paramount importance. Reporting on all matters and highlighting concern areas is especially important when it comes to occupation and vacate inspections to verify tenant/landlord liability at the Rental Housing Tribunal and legal action.
Effective 1 April 2025, all property inspection reports will be digitalised and tailored to the specific inspection type, ensuring a cost-effective, time-saving, and more professional process. This upgrade minimises frustration and helps prevent potential disputes. Tenants can sign inspections on-site, while photos and reports are uploaded to the cloud and shared with relevant parties for immediate action.

We are embracing the change over to the digitalised platform, and ready for the next step into the digital transformation journey to enhance our facility management, which will add value to our holistic approach to property management.
